“My life may not be like yours, because I live my life as an artwork” — Daniel Lismore
Join us for a unique event that will explore high fashion, art and sustainability. In this candid conversation, Daniel Lismore, the talent behind the ‘living sculpture’, will discuss mental health, masculinity in the fashion world and climate change activism with Outburst Queer Arts Artistic Director, Ruth McCarthy.
The conversation will be introduced by Our Place in Space artist and fellow climate change advocate, Oliver Jeffers.
Described by Vogue Magazine as "England's Most Eccentric Dresser", Daniel is a fabric sculptor, designer, and climate change campaigner that is best known for his flamboyant dress sense. Daniel is also an ambassador of the climate change charity Cool Earth and has worked closely with Vivienne Westwood on her Climate Revolution projects.
Ruth McCarthy is co-founder and Artistic Director of Outburst Queer Arts Festival, Northern Ireland’s annual international queer arts event. A queer activist, programmer and multimedia producer for over 25 years, she is passionate about the role of film, theatre and performance as a catalyst for social change.
The event will take place in the lecture theatre of The Ulster Museum which is located within Belfast’s Botanic Gardens. Please use the side entrance to the museum located on Stranmillis Road, as opposed to the main entrance.
The Ulster Museum is accessible via public transport by bus: 8a/8/b/8c/8d from the Donegall Square East bus stop next to City Hall and the nearest train station is Botanic - plan your journey with translink here.
