Film: Universal Diary

If you could leave a message for extra-terrestrial life, what would you say? How would you present planet Earth, and all the varied life on it?

Inspired by Voyager 1 & 2, learners will create their own video message to send out into the universe and possible alien life, using green screen technology. Pupils will reflect on the legacy they want to leave on earth and what they can do to achieve a more sustainable future.

Animation

Learn all about the epic world of asteroids, comets, meteors, satellites and space junk by creating an animation exploring these celestial bodies and recording/applying informative voiceover narration.

Minecraft Education: Our Solar System

Get creative and discover our solar system within Minecraft.

Using creative mode, students will be tasked to recreate our solar system within Minecraft. They will have to consider the relative size of each planet and the distances between them.

If Mercury were the size of one Minecraft block, what size would the rest of the planets be?

Minecraft Education: Good Trouble — Us and Them

Using Microsoft’s Good Trouble Minecraft World, students will explore important historical social justice movements, and reflect on the impact of these for the future of planet Earth.

Coding: Gravity

Gravity isn't just a good idea, it's the law!

In this workshop, students will demonstrate the rules of gravity through the interactive coding platform, CoSpaces. Using the physics engine tool, they will create a simulation of gravity’s effects on different planets in our Solar System and have fun seeing this come to life with VR/AR technology.

Digital Audio: Sounds of the Big Bang

Have you ever wondered how sound works in space?

In this workshop, students will use the GarageBand platform to design a soundscape of the big bang. Students will be tasked with imagining how the formation of the universe would sound by exploring sounds of space and interpreting them creatively. By doing so, they will also learn the principles of digital audio.

Digital Audio: Podcast

In this workshop students will learn how to produce their very own podcast within GarageBand. Pupils will be guided through the process of developing a space-themed podcast, writing a script, recording content, adding a jingle and basic editing skills.
